The provision of services to the public is a priority area for the government of Zanzibar. To this end, government has liberalised the provision of social and other basic services in health, education, tourism and hospitality, insurance, banking, housing and communication sector.
For the last five years (since 2013) the service sector has contributed over 44 % of Zanzibar GDP ahead of agriculture and industries sector. There is increasing demand for quality and professionally delivered services in all sectors. Government has thereby invested in skills development and continues to attract private investments.
